  • During the pandemic, I happened upon a couple help wanted ads for an expert in any given field, so I decided to apply and offer sewing classes. I was offered both positions.

This morning, I received a couple class evaluations from my supervisor for the class Sewing in A Nutshell that I teach at Frederick Community College. The subject of the email grabbed my attention right away:

    “Oh, you are killing it!”

My classes are geared towards adults as part of the Institute for Learning in Retirement and Lifelong Learning programs. Both men and women enroll in my classes, and the age ranges from early 20s on up. Some are total newbies and others need a good refresher.

Sewing in a Nutshell – In this exercise, the students learned the basic sewing skill of pivoting. I just love how this gentleman got creative and used the built-in decorative stitches.

If you are local to Frederick County, Maryland, and want to learn how to sew, I can teach you! I offer a variety of classes geared toward beginner sewers and those who need a refresher, and experienced students are always welcome. Be sure to look for my sewing classes at Frederick Community College Lifelong Learning Program.
